01Current application behaviour
When you apply display units, the aionterra_units preference cookie remembers the measurement system and temperature scale for up to 180 days. It contains no personal identifier and is sent only to this website to format readings. It is independent of optional analytics. You can change it through Units or remove it through browser settings. The run preference cookie (aionterra_run) stores the selected simulation run for up to 180 days. Choosing All in the footer clears it.
The application stores your privacy choice in local storage under aionterra.privacy.v1 after you make a choice. The record contains a preference version, the analytics choice and the time it was saved. It is valid for up to 180 days, after which you are asked again. This preference is not sent to Google. The application does not register a service worker or use browser fingerprinting.
Fonts, styles, scripts, the logo and charts are served from the website itself. No external analytics or embedded social-media widget is required to display the site.
02Ordinary browser caching
Your browser may cache downloaded pages and assets as part of its ordinary operation. A browser cache is not the same as an advertising cookie. Cached resources can generally be removed through your browser settings.
Downloading a CSV creates a file at a location chosen by your browser. The website does not obtain general access to your files as a result of that download.
03Optional analytics storage
Google Analytics is optional. It is disabled in local previews and loads on the public site only when enabled by the operator and accepted by you. Acceptance is not required to read scientific content or download available records.
When active and accepted, Analytics may set _ga and _ga_<identifier> cookies to distinguish browsers and retain session state. This integration configures a lifetime of 180 days without automatic expiry renewal. Actual cookie behaviour must be verified on the public domain before activation. Account-side data retention is a separate setting.
Reject optional declines analytics. Choose preferences lets you save an individual choice; analytics is off by default. Cookie preferences in the footer reopens the controls. Withdrawing permission disables measurement, removes accessible _ga cookies and reloads the current page when necessary. Data already transmitted is not automatically deleted.
If storage is unavailable, a choice applies only to the current page. If you clear browser storage, use another browser or device, or the preference expires, the site asks again. Closing the preference window without saving does not change your choice.
04Hosting and third-party services
A hosting proxy, security service or other infrastructure can introduce behaviour that is separate from the application. The final public domain must be checked for cookies and third-party requests after its hosting configuration is in place.
Following an external link takes you to another service whose storage practices are governed by its own notice. No statement here describes cookies placed after leaving Aionterra.
05Future changes and choices
Non-essential storage or tracking must not be introduced silently. If such a feature is added, its purpose, provider and duration must be documented and any required prior choice must be offered. Refusing an optional feature should not prevent access to unrelated scientific content.
Contact the operator using the details on the Operator information page if you observe a cookie or tracking request that is inconsistent with this description. Include the page and time if possible, but do not send the cookie value if it may identify or authenticate you.
