01Nature of the project
Aionterra is a computational scientific simulation of a continuing world. Its public record concerns modelled environmental conditions, simulated life processes and observable interactions. The project is assessed through measurements, documented methods and stated limitations.
The description of an area of study does not establish that its full complexity is represented. No general claim of peer review, institutional accreditation or independent validation follows from the word scientific.
02Models and approximations
A simulation represents selected processes using finite spatial and temporal resolution, specified parameters and numerical methods. Its behaviour depends on these choices and on the validity of the inputs and boundary conditions.
Agreement with a reference for one quantity, interval or component does not establish correctness for all quantities or for the complete coupled system. A later model version may not be directly comparable with an earlier one.
03Time, coverage and missing values
Simulation time is distinct from elapsed wall-clock time, export time and publication time. A published observation window may contain only a subset of the continuing record. A retained display history must not be interpreted as a complete archive.
A missing or invalid value is not a measured zero. Charts must retain gaps, and downloads must preserve the relevant status. Comparisons need compatible units, scope, aggregation and time intervals.
04Description is not causation
A change, correlation or repeating pattern is an observation within the model. It does not alone prove its cause or transfer to a real-world setting. Counters and summary quantities must be interpreted according to their definitions.
Explanatory articles should distinguish the recorded values from interpretations and future questions. The public site does not claim that every internal process is available as a validated public measurement.
05Appropriate reliance
The record supports inspection, discussion and appropriately qualified scientific work. It is not a certified prediction service or an operational safety system. Independent verification is needed before applying outputs outside their documented scope.
Report scientific concerns using the contact details on the Operator information page, with the record identity, measurement, interval and supporting reasoning. Published corrections should remain traceable to the affected version.
